The UWNI scholarship fund is getting low, which is why we need your help!. So please join me as we increase this fund to help your neighbor, your favorite barista, or possibly the clerk at your local grocery store.
Over the past few years, UWNI has awarded $500,000 in child care scholarships to hundreds of families in the five northern counties. These are individuals who are early in their careers or working on a certificate or degree to improve their financial situation. Unfortunately, these are the types of young families who barely earn enough to make ends meet. On top of that, the cost of child care is increasingly expensive. We work with child care providers and their margins are razor thin, with owners often not taking a paycheck to ensure their teachers are paid (as low as that may be). This is a critical industry to our community, and it needs help.
Advocacy for child care support will help the long-term, but right now we need to keep these hardworking families in the workforce and helping with child care is a proven, impactful way to do so. In addition to these funds, a small portion (10%) will help UWNI maintain it's place in our community. 100% of your donation will stay local!
